Futility Comprises 1/3 of Ethics Consults

In a recent article in Physician Executive Journal (37 no. 6), the University of Michigan reported that one-third of its ethics consults concerned futility.  Another third concerned end-of-life and advance directive.  The article explains how Michigan uses web-based consultation and archives older consult cases for viewing and comment.
