An investigation into the death of a patient at the Luton & Dunstable Hospital discovered that the doctor in charge issued a ‘Do Not Resuscitate’ order - without discussing this with the patient’s family. A Coroner’s Inquest heard how as the patient lay dying, neither the doctors nor nurses then intervened to save her life, as a result of the DNR order. The Coroner summed up his concerns to the defendant doctor as “you failed to pay attention and treat the patient in front of you”. Despite the findings of the Coroner’s Court, the Hospital Trust denies any wrongdoing on the part of the doctor in question. (Linder Meyers Solicitors)
