Wesley Smith warns that "we are being set up for medical “choice” as a one-way street. " I have used this metaphor before but in precisely the opposite way. The status quo is a one-way street, a one-way street to more interventions than the patient ever wanted. It is very tough to turn off this street to hospice boulevard or to palliative care avenue. Most new initiatives are about expanding choice at the end of life, making the current one-way street into a two-way street.
