ScienceRoll

I was going to go to sleep but by a freak chance of fate I thought I'd check out a blog and the next one on the list was ScienceRoll.

Bertalan Meskó is the founder of this very cool blog. Currently Bertalan is at the University of Debrecen, Hungary in 4th year with aspirations of becoming a clinical geneticist.

Bertalan's blog simplifies medicine and genetics and makes it easier to understand for the non-medical community and gives ideas for other doctors and students of how something can be explained and/or made very interesting.

ScienceRoll is not only easy to read but also shine's of professional quality posting which touches upon subjects such as Modification of Genes by Diets and gives honorary mentions of Doctors who have contributed so much to medicine. ScienceRoll also has Blogterviews of other bloggers that have achieved success in the Medical Blogosphere.

A recent post of ScienceRoll, Fighting Cancer with Video Games was mentioned in several other blog carnivals and sites. Another post that I found to be intriguing was 4D Ultrasound.

Even if you're not interested in any of the above, take a peek to get a feel of the writing style, blog, and Bertalan's approach to medicine as it is a great source of motivation.

CCLCM Student

CCLCM Student is a blog based in Cleveland, Ohio, US. It is an interesting read for those who like simple, black and white blogs which describe in detail the ins and outs of medical school, such as PBL (Problem Based Learning) and Med School Interview Tips.

Take notice of the sidebar at CCLCM Student, as it contains links to very informative FAQ's that may come in handy. Regular posts also describe in very good detail how classes look like and the little things that the writer pays attention to.

I don't really know how to describe this blog but it is very appealing. I like stories and especially ones that are like the grandfather kind, not boring or anything of the likes. The ones that are calm yet you can see the humour or irony in them. The kind that makes you feel as if you are reliving that moment. Stories that give just the right amount of detail in just the right moment. You can truly feel the sincerity, intelligence, and when you finished reading, you smile and say to yourself, "Yeah, that was good."

All Scrubbed Up

I must admit this blog is cool. I like the title too, who could resist taking a look at All Scrubbed Up? The writer(s) of this blog even called me a mate! I've never been called a mate before! For that alone this blog deserves to be up here :)

All Scrubbed Up is a solid blog and worthwhile read especially for those who need a good laugh. And the Medical T-Shirts that they found are also quite the hoot. And posting links to it all would take me forever, so check it out!

But it's not all fun and games here, serious posts are also written, such as Misunderstanding around HIV testing in SA, and the concerns of patients googling their symptoms (oh, haven't we all done that?).

But don't take my review for it, check out Domkop's one too.

DiBasic

I thought I should celebrate my upcoming histology exam with an update to this collection of blogs that I've been neglecting a little. I have a plethora, and I mean a plethora, of blogs to add.

Dibasic is a blog by a Med Student in Grenada who writes off campus restuarant reviews on the side. The blog is mostly a collection of personal thoughts and day to day things, but the details are what makes this wonderful time in each student's life so fun.

One of the interesting things that DiBasic explains is the wierd term division that the Med School over there has implemented in it's curriculum, but I'll let you find the other posts that explain it ;) Also is provided a quick review of what a first year looks like at the university for those people too lazy to search up an official curriculum from a website (or who just want to have the pleasure of reading a Med Student's blog). Going back a few months we find other posts that are of interest also, such A Question From a Prospective Student.

Lastly I would just like to congratulate on the move to Wordpress that happened not too long ago. Excellent decision :)

Nosugrefneb

I don't know what it means. I'm also sure that I'm probably the only one 
that's not getting the title to nosugrefneb. So far I've managed to make out 'no' and 'sugar.' Fill me in if you can.

Nosugrefneb is a blog by a Med Student at the University of Chicago. This particular student is also pursuing a PhD in Cancer Biology and already has a degree in Molecular and Integrative Physiology.

I added this blog because of it's "Make no sense and write random posts" approach to blogging. But also because I never said that this Blogroll of Medical Student Blogs should be limited to just blogs by medical students with posts solely pertaining to Medical issues and subjects.

You gotta have the whacky and wierd too.

Prescriptions from the Bad Doctor

I'd like to wish everyone a Happy/Belated Christmas (and early one for the Ukrainian Xmas people out there [and others])

Prescriptions from the Bad Doctor is run by The Bad Doctor in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Now, Bad Doctor may have a cool picture, but unfortunately ladies, he's married...but don't dispair, the blog is still well worth it. Bad Doctor writes posts about Ethics Classes, poem included, as well as personal experiences about Dayquil et al.

One post really caught my attention and I cannot describe it as I have yet to experience it, but maybe the following may help convey my thoughts on the post. An Unwilling Consult:

To him, at that one moment, I was an insider source on the secrets of human life and death, and my juvenile opinion held the weight of the world. I can say with all honesty that I did not relish that position, and do not look forward to facing it again in the future.

Angry Medic

The Angry Medic is a blog based in Cambridge. It's worth checking out even if you're only into looking at pictures, the header is pretty cool. Angry Medic has a variety of posts, most of which are funny and poke medicine in that special way (that makes you giggle :) ). Angry Medic displays his dismay for lack of theme music when one enters a ward in their white coat among many other interesting posts.

I keep trying to convince others that we Med Skule students do indeed have lives. I link to posts full of supposedly real facts of people doing things, but we finally have (or had some) hard proof of this theory. Angry Medic reveals and provide(d)s tangible evidence of this. Kudos to him!

And of course there are the classical posts about a med student's journey through med school. I have to put down the whole title because I like it so much. Good Nursie! Here, Have a Biscuit.
