I was pleased to see here that New Jersey's statewide system of "Regional Ethics Committees" (with which I used to be involved) is now being revitalized. This could be a good model of the "multi-institutional ethics committee" that I have argued should, instead of intramural committees, be entrusted with adjudicating treatment conflicts.
